The Camping Experience At Barcoos Farmstays Bathurst
Ever wondered what a real Australian Farm looks, smells and feels like? No not one where you camp with paved roads, electric lightning, and sold to you as the idealic retreat where everything is perfect, but a real genuine farm, where you get to rough it a bit.
If this sounds what you are after then Barcoos is the place for you.
You can see real farm animals, some which will run away, and others like lambs who for many reasons require hand feeding, will follow you around, just waiting for you to take the perfect selfie, with them as the star of course.
We have dogs, genuine farm dogs who run, work, play and will sometimes leave a calling card near your caravan, which we do of course clean up. But they are friendly and love the farm, which is their home.
Wanting to see farm equipment that works, and some that doesn’t. We have it
Want to feel why a electric fence is used to keep animals where they are supposed to be, we have a few electric fences and if you touch them by mistake or on purpose you will get a jolt, we don’t recommend you actually try it cause it does hurt, but they are there and we will let you know where they are.
We have all sorts of activities for children, pony rides, feeding baby animals and letting them be involved, and sure this costs a little bit more, but if you wish to bring your children, then these activities are included in their cost to stay.
And of course the best part.
Nature. – It will rain sometimes and the mood of the farm will brighten, and then it will get muddy and we will stay happy, and the smell from wet ground is so beautiful you will want to bottle it to take home as a reminder.
The wind will blow, and if its dry it will be dusty, so you retreat to a sheltered spot and relax with a glass of your favourite beverage or a good book, or even better a conversation, a chat, a talk with a loved one.
Yes at times there will be flies, that’s why you have come to Barcoo to experience farming, so bring a fly deterrent or just get used to using the great Australian wave. It is life in the outdoors.
Depending on the time of year it can be hot, or cold or both, but at night you can go outside and as your eyes become accustomed to the dark, the night sky will mesmerise you with the sheer number of stars and planets, no photo will ever be the same as seeing the sky from a dark, friendly corner of the world, Barcoo Farm Stays.
Back to the creature comforts, there are hot showers and clean facilities, but the rest you bring yourself, and experience life on a real working farm, warts and all!
